Abstract

Digital education has become an important pillar in the transformation of the global education system in today's digital era. The use of technology in learning offers opportunities to improve the quality of education and expand its access worldwide. However, inequalities in access to technology remain a major challenge, especially in developing countries and remote areas. This inequality creates gaps in educational opportunities, which in turn affects social and economic equality. Therefore, this study aims to explore how digital education can play a role in answering global inequalities in access to technology, with a focus on efforts to mitigate this inequality through policies, infrastructure, and digital literacy. This study uses a qualitative method with a literature study approach to examine various relevant literature sources, including scientific articles, policy reports, and case studies from various countries. This study aims to analyze how digital education can improve access and learning opportunities for groups that have been technologically lagging behind. In addition, this study also highlights the challenges faced in the implementation of digital education, such as infrastructure inequality, low digital literacy, and lack of policy support. The results of the study show that digital education has great potential to reduce inequality in access to technology if implemented with an inclusive approach. Strengthening technological infrastructure in underdeveloped areas, increasing digital literacy for students and teachers, and government policies that support equal access to technology are key factors in overcoming this inequality. However, challenges such as limited devices and uneven internet connections in various regions of the world are still the main obstacles in realizing equitable access to digital education.
